We enjoyed Monday's presentation by Tomm Moore, the director of the beautiful animated film about the Book of Kells, The Secret of Kells.
Tomm showed concept sketches and research photos, spoke about character development, Ireland's history and answered questions about his own journey when making this animated movie. You can see from this video clip, just how gracious he was when signing autographs for the kids. Every student got a drawing along with his signature, and he joked that his hand was cramping! Thanks to Tomm, there are many new animation fans at the Mayeda Campus! Good thing that The Secret of Kells comes out on DVD next week on October 5th!
For those who enjoy seeing what comes next, here's a sneak preview of Tomm's next animated movie, Song of the Sea. The kids will be sending a box of blue marbles to Tomm's animation studio in Ireland, along with a note asking what the ocean means to them. Wonder what his creative team of animators will do with them!
