Photos taken in St. Paul's Chapel near Ground Zero, New York City, 2004.
The sign on this display of origami cranes in St. Paul's reads:
"Senbazuru"
Japanese Peace Cranes
Symbolic of how St. Paul's brought together people of all nations and religions in its ministry of compassion and reconciliation, these origami paper cranes represent a fraction of the thousands of these Shinto offerings we received from school children and other groups throughout Japan — the most precious of which came from survivors of the WW II bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
